  5. Unleashing The Power and Grace of God For Change
1/22/17,Pastor Stan Candler
Phillipians 2:12-13
—  One of the most encouraging experiences a pastor can have is to see the response of people to the preaching of the Word.
—  The Spirit of the Lord is using the Word of God to perform the Will of God is our lives.
—  It’s natural to plateu in our walk with the Lord, but that isn’t what God wants in our lives.
—  We all want to be healed and set free. We look through the bars of our self imposed imprisonment and see our dreams and desires to be real disciples… Just out of reach (humanly soeaking)
The steps:
1. Acknowledging the Truth.
2. Asking for support.
3. Actually choosing to change.
Our part / God’s part
Phillipians 2:12-13
—  Two key phrases :  vs 12 its Work Out,  in vs 13 it’s Work In.
Our Part: vs 12.
A. Work out.
a. This isn’t about being saved or getting saved. Many have a misconception about this phrase.
b. Having been saved,  this is our response.
—  Ephesians 2:8-9.
a. By grace through faith. This is how we got saved.
B. It is a gift if God. NOT of works.
—  2 Corinthians 5:17.
a. Something changed.
B. The new emphasis for every disciple. is on the Word and Will of God.
God’s Part:  vs 13.
A. Work In.
a. God wants us to be healed and whole.
B. When we make a change it releases God to work in our lives.
c. God is waiting for us to act. The problem is that we are waiting for God to act…  without us making the necessary changes.
—  Joshua 3:14-17.
a. The Jordan River was in flood stage at this time. Scary.
B. They were most likely fearful when they approached the river. So they chose to follow their faith rather than their feelings.
God did His part when they did their partThis exactly how God works in our lives
