  5. To Tell the Truth… Day 6

“Ask and it will be given to you;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.”
– Matthew 7:7

These three promises concerning prayer, given to us by Jesus, are both encouraging and challenging. It certainly encourages my heart, and I hope your heart as well, to know that God hears and answers prayer. The challenge of these three promises is twofold. First, Jesus spoke these words as a command. Prayer is an act of OBEDIENCE. For me to receive, I must ask. For me to find, I must seek. For the door to be open to me, I must knock. I don’t understand everything about prayer I would like to understand; but, this simple truth I do know – God won’t answer 100 percent of the prayers we don’t pray.
The second challenge is one of FAITH. All these promises were spoken by Christ as present tense verbs. In other words, keep on asking, seeking, and knocking. We mistakenly think God is offended by our continuous praying for something or someone. Absolutely not! There is an old adage: Desperate times call for desperate measures. These are desperate times with the coronavirus invasion. Our responsibility is to ask, seek, and knock. Everything else is in the Lord’s hands. I once again quote Mark Batterson, pastor of National Community Church – “The greatest tragedy in life is the prayers that go unanswered simply because the go unasked.”
Be Faithful,
Preacher Stan
