  5. To Tell the Truth… Day 51 – Focus on the Spiritual

“We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
II Corinthians 4:18

Everything we see around us is temporary. The home or office you are in right now will one day be gone. The computer or cell phone you are staring at, and even your body will one day disappear from existence. Yet it is what you can’t see around you that will last forever. And those realities are what really matter. Spiritual realities are exceedingly more important than the physical. They should be preeminent! Especially the following five.
First, God made us to love us and for us to love Him back. In Jeremiah 31:3 the scripture says, “The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness.” This is the most important reality of life. Especially knowing secondly, we were created to last forever. In Ecclesiastes 3:11 the scripture says, “He has made everything appropriate in its time. He also set eternity in their heart.” Dr. Billy Graham said, “One day you will read that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it.  I shall  be more alive than I am right now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.”
Thirdly, God has prepared two eternal places. Both heaven and hell are real, literal places. Fourthly, we get to choose where we will spend eternity. No one accidentally finds themselves in hell one day. They will be there because they chose not to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.  Those who by the grace of God through faith receive Christ will spend eternity in heaven with Christ. There is no middle option. And then fifthly, there is no second chance after this life. So there is a time limit to this choice. We have our entire life to make this decision, but we never know when our time on earth is over. We can’t change our mind after death. The time to make this decision is now! It is, obviously,  the most important decision of your life,
